Viddy Explodes in Popularity: Instagram for Video

Phenomenal. Entertaining. Innovative. Put these three words together and you now have Viddy—a startup company in Venice that embraces the word coolness in every essence. Viddy’s hotness has spread to 80 countries and registered 175,000 downloads in less than 4 weeks. Exactly one month since its inception, Viddy has speedily been making a name in the video services niche and apps field.

Viddy is commonly tagged as the “Instagram of video”, but simpler. The success is largely attributed to the features of the product and the company is now gearing up to support 15,000 daily new users with minimal press releases and advertising.  JJ Aguhob, Co-Founder of Viddy briefly discusses the pattern in mobile video sharing and said,

“Personal Camcorders are becoming outdated and Cisco recently shut down Flip Digital. Everyone has a cell phone, it’s always with you, has a built in HD camera and is connected to the Web. Viddy is a perfect solution to share key moments of your life in a creative way.”

Viddy lets users instantly create visually stunning clips, with one-click sharing with friends and the social web, to attract meaningful feedback from a community of video lovers, real-time exploration and discovery, and enhance video via stylized filters and music with endless creativity for personal expression. With production packs almost similar to that of Instagram Filters for video, Viddy makes it easy for users to share, view and create mobile video that are worth sharing. The mounting potential surrounding Viddy has attracted $1.6 million in funding to propel their mobile video sharing software R&D.

Trends around video services suggest that this industry is still bound to grow exponentially. Recently, Socialcam, an improved version of Instragram made by Justin.tv had already 250,000 downloads in less than a month after its launch.

What captivates the worldwide audience is the “cinematic life in a moment” that this app brings. Face it or not, the growing love for social networking and sharing a piece of your milestone to the world will make apps like Viddy a sure hit with a simple glimpse turning into something surreal and extravagant.
