5 Profiles In Social Media Excellence

Burberry websiteEveryone reading this little list of social presences will have their own favorites, lists of those extraordinary profiles out there that reach out and grab your attention. Better yet, those that really do take you in, into where brand becomes true identity. The following suggested social accounts are just a few we ran across researching (surfing) the web this past month.

The social networks (niches) covered below include; Twitter feeds, Facebook, g+, blogs, and finally YouTube Channels. Be sure and offer up your suggestions in the comments too, so we can take a look and showcase others later on.

Situated in firmly in the travel niche, HSMAI New York’s Twitter feed is one of the most stunning “billboards” for a hospitality effort we’ve seen. This local segment of Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International not only snatches visitor attention via vivid B&W graphics, but retains the guest (potential follower) with pertinent and very useful market segment info.

As you can see, people interested in hospitality or travel will sooner or later run across a gripping Twitter profile, and as for HSMAI, their dogma of being “ommitted to growing business for hotels and their partners by fueling sales, inspiring marketing, and optimizing revenue” has at worst a superlative social media presence going on.

L.L. Bean is a company with a long tradition of being not only stylish but oriented to customer value. This certainly shows through for anyone passing by their Facebook profile. As the image below shows, the outdoor outfitting outfit has social media down about as well as woolen outerwear and wet weather mukluks. Simple, elegant, imagery of those traditional fine clothes meets social media marketing practicality.

The company founded way back in 1912 by Leon Leonwood Bean seems as comfortable in the digital world as it always has been in the far frozen North. What began as a one room store back when, now sells their famous Maine hunting shoes and gear worldwide via the www.

Google Plus. Social media has been in a love-hate relationship with the search giant’s edgy social network for months now. Facebook fans hate it, Google fans love it. Regardless of what your views might be though, the introduction of g+ pages has upped the stakes significantly. Nowhere is the branding capability of g+ more evident than with the profile Burberry has instigated there. Where Google Plus is concerned, the British flavor of Burberry’s finery is a tasty-cool tidbit, so cool in fact – it’s snowing there (or is that rain?).

Rain or snow, the world’s more famous trench coat makers still know how to thread the needle of perfection. And when you have the time, be sure and click through to their website. Of all those I’ve seen in over a decade writing about such, no store site was ever better. Tell us what you think.

How many blogs are there in the world now? Is it 200 million yet? However many there are, we all take note when we run across a particularly cool and/or beautiful one. This happened to me today when an editor friend suggested a link to  the blog of photographer Henry Chan. HenryShoots-HenryBlogs is just minimalist beautiful. Looking at the works of Chan spread across the white background like they are, the site reminds me of a pristine linen tablecloth, one set with some of the finest photographs I ever saw.

YouTube was snatched up by Google back when we were all just “thinking” about the implications of that thing known as Web 2.0. As they say, “the rest is history” – but, not so many so called social media gurus even consider YouTube Channels a part of the social sphere really. Nothing could be further from the truth really. Even though the instantaneous “two way” communicative nature of most channels is not prevalent via video, it’s easy to see we do all interact around this distribution point. And, there’s not more fetching example of YouTube Channel excellence (adoption) than that of Cassetteboy.

Cassetteboy is but one in a long line of comedic film editors who put out some of the most watched videos on Earth. Entertaining, informative, and just down right funny sometimes, this genre of socially adaptable and adoptable media may just be the favorite of them all social media wise. Now, if we could only figure out how to life-stream this way.

There are just a few good examples of social media superbness you may not have seen, surely every reader has their own favorites. Please let us know yours, will you?
