New Kindle Fires May Come As Early As July 31

In our last Amazon piece, we mentioned their upcoming Kindle Fire, or should I say Kindle Fires, since news surfaced that Amazon will be launching Kindle Fires of various sizes.

According to Demos Parneros, president of U.S. Retail for Staples Inc., Amazon is getting ready to release 5-6 tablets of different sizes as they push to sell more media content such as MP3s, movies, e-books, TV shows, apps and a lot more.  The array of new Kindle Fires will include something that could directly compete with Google’s Nexus 7, and a 10-inch tablet that would compete with larger tablets like the iPad and the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

How low can you go?

It has been noted that Amazon launches their devices at very low prices, about 10-60% lower than competitors’ prices.  The current Kindle Fire is available for $199, impressively low for a tablet price, and deemed a good buy for consumers on a tight budget.  The question now is, will the next generation of Kindle Fires be priced lower than the already low $199?

There’s a possibility that they would just stick to the $199 price tag but the device may not be as awesome as other tablets, especially if they plan on selling bigger ones.

If Amazon is really creating a number of tablets in different sizes, there might be a 5-inch tablet that could cost less than $199.  If they stick to a 7-inch tablet, the price could stay the same but if you add more features to it like 4G LTE capabilities, then the price might hike up a bit.  As for the 10-inch tablet, they could still sell it for $199 but it might only have 8GB of memory or even less.

So what’s new with the Kindle Fires?

According to some sources, Amazon will be launching a 7-inch Kindle Fire 2 in 8GB and 16GB versions, a 10-inch Kindle Fire 2 in 16GB and 32GB versions, and a 10-inch 4G LTE Kindle Fire 2  in 16GB and 32GB configurations.  But other sources say that the upcoming Kindle Fire 2 will have a 7-inch display with an upgraded 1,280 x 800 pixels resolution and will have 4G LTE connectivity.  Another source stated that Amazon is just releasing a revamped version of the first Kindle Fire by adding 3G capabilities.

When are they coming out?

Sources say that everything is already set and ready for an August 7 launch while others say that we can expect a new generation of Kindle Fires as early as July 31.  Not sure though if all their tablet sizes will be unveiled on the same day or each tablet will get its own special day.

The question now is, when should you buy a new Kindle Fire?  If the sources are right in saying that the new Kindle Fire/s will be unveiled in the next couple of weeks, we can guess that these devices will be up for sale in a matter of weeks.  But if you want great, discounted deals, better wait until the holidays to get the best out of your money.  I’m pretty sure Amazon would drip their prices to cater to holiday shoppers.
