Vimeo Teams With Dropbox as Cloud Tie-Ups Get Chic

Vimeo wants to be your ultimate video-go-to-guy and in that quest, they’ve entered into a new partnership with file-storing service Dropbox.

Vimeo users can now add their Dropbox account on the Vimeo upload page or link the two sites in their account settings.  Users can automatically or manually upload videos via a “Vimeo” folder in Dropbox.

“Integration within Dropbox is something our community wanted for a while,” said Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor in a statement. “This is another tool for them to upload and share their videos with friends and family, or the rest of the world.”

Vimeo also has a partnership with Microsoft that benefits Windows Movie Maker users.  Users of Windows Movie Maker or Photo Gallery can now publish their works straight to Vimeo without any hassle as the Vimeo options are built into Microsoft’s software so no need to open a browser to publish your works in Vimeo.

Cloud storage companies are really going all out to make things better for users.  So let’s look at what other cloud services are up to these days.

SkyDrive

Microsoft launched the Android version of the SkyDrive app.  The app allows users to view files like documents and photos saved in their SkyDrive account, share files or folders via e-mail, upload images and videos to SkyDrive, and open SkyDrive files in other apps.

SkyDrive for Android works best with devices running Android 4.0 a.k.a. Ice Cream Sandwich but Microsoft claims it also works with Gingerbread and anything else higher.

Evernote

Cloud storage service, Evernote, which let’s you remember everything, recently struck a partnership with digital scanning service 1DollarScan.  1DollarScan digitizes your printed text and saves the digital content to your Evernote account.  All a person needs to do is send their printed text to 1DollarScan who will then scan and convert them into PDF files which will then be delivered to users.  After that, it’s just a matter of discussing book thumbnail image, book title and number books, amount paid, confirmation number, request and scan dates, etc. and a download link of the PDF file(s) is automatically uploaded to a user’s Evernote account as a new 1DollarScan Notebook.

iCloud

According to MacRumors, Apple employees have been given a new perk: 50GB of free iCloud storage.  The perk is valued at $100 a year with Apple only offering 5GB of free storage to anyone with an iCloud account, anything higher costs money.  So this is a great deal for Apple employees.  Also, if you’re a Mac user and an Apple employee, the 50GB bump would be greatly appreciated since Text Edit files on Mountain Lion are saved in iCloud by default.
