Nancy Pearson Talks on PureSystems Flexibility, Simplicity and Changing Economics of IT

Nancy Pearson, VP of expert integrated systems marketing (IBM PureSystems), talks about the unique features of the newly announced PureSystems server family – integration by design, IBM’s built in expertise and a platform for simplified operations.

In an interview with Dave Vellante, Co-Founder, Wikibon, at the Information OnDemand 2012 event, Pearson said IBM PureSystems is the right combination of IBM software and hardware and years of services and expertise into a series of sort of workload specific module.

She said IBM PureSystems is built as a platform for a simplified experience for clients as it relates to information technology. It provides simplicity of an appliance and the elasticity of cloud into one highly customizable integrated system. It offers lots of benefits to clients including reduce business IT server complexity, and reduce operational workloads out of the hands of IT personnel.

In a response to a question on the advantage of IBM’s infrastructure business as compared to competitors, Pearson said the company expertise in software and hardware has helped them to build an expert integrated system comprises the collective IT knowledge and experience of decades, spanning thousands of IT deployments, best practices and innovations. These patterns of expertise are capable of processing many of its own fundamental workload operations.

In addition, these patterns offer design, configuration, installation, deployment and management that comprise most traditional IT infrastructures. Compute and infrastructure components, storage and networking technologies—typically separate entities in an IT data center – are all brought together onto a simplified, easy-to-operate platform.

Consider the fact that most organizations work in 70/30 model (70 percent of IT budgets go into maintenance and operations), Nancy provided some in-depth into IBM PureFlex System that can deliver intelligent infrastructure with embedded management capabilities to cut infrastructure management costs by over 50 percent. The cloud infrastructure system integrates storage, server, networking and all are integrated directly into these systems to simplify IT.

IBM, other offerings, PureApplication and application patterns can be used to deploy any applications in a matter of minutes. These systems also offer business process management, portals, web content management, business intelligence and more.
