Amazon has upgraded its Cloud Drive and introduced a desktop drive version that allows users to sync their Cloud Drive with the desktop app. Useful for both PC and Mac users, this Cloud Drive app creates a folder on your desktop and instantly syncs all the files you put in it. And, if you have the app on multiple devices, it’ll sync your files across all those devices.
If this rings some bells, you’re right as this is exactly the way Dropbox service works. Just like Dropbox, Amazon Cloud drive creates a local folder on your system, PC or Mac, which syncs with the website and your other devices. Unlike Dropbox’s 2GB complimentary storage, Amazon offers 5GB space along with Cloud Drive that syncs with music you’ve previously purchased from Amazon’s music service without counting it against your storage total.
If 5GB is not enough for you, there are plans starting at $10 for 20GB of cloud storage. Along with free 250 songs offered along with Cloud drive, you can upgrade for 250,000 songs for just $25 a year. If you have a Kindle Fire and a user of Amazon Cloud drive, things become even better as documents saved to your desktop Cloud Drive folder are automatically synced to the Docs library on the Kindle Fire.
