Kofax Picks Up Kapow to Bolster Enterprise Portfolio
Kofax, a leading provider of enterprise process automation and content management solutions, has acquired Kapow Software for $47.5 million in cash. The data integration firm will continue to operate independently under the leadership of John Yapaola.
Kapow’s flagship solution is Katalyst, a near real time application integration framework. The platform features a simplified graphic interface that enables users to manage APIs without doing any coding, and sports a tool that delivers API-level functionality where none is available. It achieves this by wrapping an interface around web applications’ presentation layer.
Kofax will utilize Kapow’s technology to bolster its smart process application lineup with validation and content export and import capabilities. The company’s assets will be also used to penetrate the “emerging electronic content transformation segment of the multichannel capture market,” and enhance the business intelligence and analytics software Kofax gained through the acquisition of Altosoft earlier this year.
“As a successful market leader focused on providing smart process applications with the global presence and software assets needed to credibly execute that vision, Kofax is an ideal strategic fit for Kapow,” Kapow chief executive John Yapaola said in a statement. “With our strengths in big data integration, Kofax customers will achieve competitive advantage faster, and Kapow customers will have access to a broad array of complimentary software and solutions to better address their needs.”
Back in May, around the same time Kofax bought Altostor, Kapow chief product officer Karl Ederle shared his insights into the data automation space in an interview with SiliconANGLE’s Kristen Nicole. He highlighted that 85 percent of mobile workers believe that their organizations should implement user-centric data strategies, and detailed how consumer trends and the Internet of Things drive demand for automation solutions.
