How to watch Apple’s WWDC15 keynote on Windows and Android devices

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) takes place in San Francisco, California from June 8 to 12. The opening keynote, during which we expect Apple to make some major announcements, starts on Monday, June 8 at 10 AM Pacific / 1 PM Eastern Time.

As per usual, Mac, iOS and Apple TV users can livestream the WWDC15 keynote via their device, but what if you have a non-Apple device and are still interested in hearing what the Apple team has to announce?

Livestream Apple’s WWDC15 on Windows and Android with VLC Media Player

VLC, if you are unfamiliar with it, is a free video player with video streaming capabilities that can decode Apple’s livestream data.

If you do not have VLC installed, you can download VLC for Windows here or VLC for Android here.

Once you have VLC installed on your device of choice, follow these steps:

  • Launch VLC
  • Click on ‘Media’
  • Select ‘Open Network Stream’
  • Enter the below URL into the URL field as shown below
  • Now simply click ‘Play’ and enjoy (note: the link will only work once the keynote goes live at 10 AM Pacific / 1 PM Eastern Time )

Apple will post event updates on its ‘Live’ site and SiliconANGLE will cover all the announcements from the keynote.

Some of the announcements we expect to see at WWDC15 include details about iOS 9, due for release in September, Apple’s new Beats Music-based streaming music service, new Apple TV hardware, and an Apple Pay rewards program and possible launch date in Canada, and more details on HomeKit.
