11 more ‘hidden’ iOS 9 features for your iPhone
By now you are probably quite familiar with the more notable and talked-about features of iOS 9, including the new News app, the revamped Notes app, multitasking features for iPad, public transit info for Maps and the Proactive personal assistant. But this is not all there is to iOS 9.
We have already brought you more than 15 ‘hidden’ tweaks and features buried in iOS 9 and today we share 11 more ‘hidden’ features in iOS 9 that will change how you use your iPhone.
11 more ‘hidden’ features of iOS 9
New Back button: When jumping between app notifications or following links, iOS 9 makes it easy to go back to the previous app/screen you were using (without using the multitasking window). Look for the “Back to previous app” option in the top left of your screen and tap to go back.
Bulk select photos or videos: Open an album > tap the Select button (top right) > tap, hold and drag to select multiple images or videos.
Hide multiple images: Using the bulk select method above, select multiple images > taps Share > Hide.
Return to Album view: Instead of tapping the back arrow in the top left corner when viewing an image, simply swipe down on the image to dismiss it. This automatically returns you to the Album view.
Navigate photos: In a single photo view, slide across the thumbnail slider at the bottom to scroll through a series of photos.
Instantly send a photo or video: Press and hold the camera icon to launch the recording UI, take a photo or video and it’s automatically inserted into a message. Now hit send.
Adjust video recording resolution: Go to Settings > Photos and Camera > Record Video > select from 720p HD at 30fps/1080p HD at 30fps or 60fps. You can also adjust the resolution for Slo-mo video by picking from 720p at 120fps or 240fps.
Zoom in or out during video playback: Using familiar Multi-Touch gestures pinch and stretch, you can zoom in and out of a video during playback.
Annotate and draw on email attachments: In Mail, tap and hold an attached image to launch the contextual menu > tap Markup and Reply > draw on or annotate the image > tap Done. The image is automatically inserted into an email reply.
Siri recommendations: Swipe left from the Home screen to access iOS 9 Search. Siri will display recommendations based on your location, including nearby restaurants, bars, shopping, gas stations, and more.
Estimated travel times: When creating a new entry in the Calendar app, scroll to Travel Time and toggle it on (green position). Now the Calendar app will tell you the estimated travel time to your next meeting so you’ll know exactly when to leave.
