Chrome for iOS update simplifies multitasking and online shopping

Google has updated Chrome for iOS with two new features that will allow you to multitask on your iPad (iOS 9 only) and save time when filling out forms online.

Multitasking just got easier

It’s unlikely that when you are browsing the web you are only focused on one thing. Often we are jumping between pages checking photos on social media, reading an article about a new restaurant in town, typing an email and more. Chrome has now made this crazy multi-tasking easier by adding support for Apple’s new Split View and Picture-in-Picture multitasking features for iPad, introduced in iOS 9.

Split View allows you to run Chrome side-by-side with any other updated iOS app that works with the new feature, allowing you to check your social media feed while at the same time finishing up that article.

Picture-in-Picture works in a similar way in that you can view a video in a separate, smaller window while you continue viewing a second app, ensuring you don’t miss out on that cat video.

Both of these features will only work on the iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 4.

Online shopping, simplified

A feature that has been around for as long as we can remember on Chrome for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android, is finally coming to Chrome for iOS. Autofill will now take away the hassle of completing credit card details, billing info, contact details, etc. across all versions of Chrome. Google is particularly focusing on the ease and security that Autofill will provide for frequent online shoppers.

Chrome’s update also includes better handling of right-to-left languages like Arabic and Hebrew.

These aren’t major changes, but theses features do enhance the Chrome experience on iOS. If you have iOS 7 or later, you can get an updated version of Chrome for your iPhone and iPad in the App Store.
