Inside HPE’s hybrid cloud consulting business | #HPEDiscover

Business is going digital. Cloud computing, big data and the Internet of Things are just a few of the new concepts that will define the future of business around the world. Companies know they need to reorganize to take advantage of these new technologies, but saying and doing are two different things. Smart businesses are reaching out to partners for help in surviving the digital transformation.

To learn more about how Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. is working with companies to enable their own transition, Dave Vellante (@dvellante) and Paul Gillin (@pgillin), co-hosts of theCUBE*, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, visited the HPE Discover EU conference in London. There, they spoke to Wadad Kafka, senior director of the EMEA hybrid cloud consulting business at HPE.

Advice for the digital journey

The conversation opened with a look at the role of hybrid cloud consulting at HPE. Kafka explained its mission is to make hybrid IT simple, recognizing this as a vital trend in the digital transformation. HPE sees its role as consulting and advising companies on this journey of digital transformation.

Kafka stated that the main challenge HPE faces is in how it introduces and explains the concept of digital transformation. She discovered this process is different from company to company. In the end, everyone wants the same things, such as efficiency and speed, but getting there is a unique journey.

Going to the business

That unique journey colors the whole of the consulting process. Kafka described how HPE tries to understand the customer’s business and what the customer wants to achieve. Once HPE understands the priorities involved, it can create appropriate workstreams. Kafka stated that it’s always a joint process between them and the companies.

Engagement starts through workshops, but doesn’t end there. Kafka explained HPE goes beyond the workshop, keeping that engagement. She mentioned that transformation and engagement is a nonstop process, one that could last for years.

“It is a partnership that helps each company grow together,” Kafka said.
