Will the Apple Tablet Truly be Wanted?

image It was a funny sight today: the new guy’s iPhone quickly taps the desk in efforts to right it’s loose sim card."What’s the use of 2,000 apps if I can’t get reception?" Walking over to the other new guy, I noticed him surfing Engadget (It was Engadget after all, Richard Lawler) checking out old mock ups and theories.

I hollered: “Tomorrow’s gonna be awesome, right?” My attempts to hold back my mock excitement failed. He looked up and laughed.

“Yeah, I’m trying to find a reason to upgrade my Macbook anyway…”

Anyway? Most of the day contained questions like: Do I need an iTablet? Will it be comfortable in two hands? Will it have voice command? Have I put enough money on the side for it? My question is when will 2.0 come out?

The rules haven’t changed: "Never buy the prototype!" If you are a techie just waiting for a bumpy road, sure go ahead, but if you see this device adding value to your productive tech’s bottom-line, pass. Yes the great Calacanis will have his assistant order two of them like the Mac air but will he give them out to all of his employees? No, it’s not that refined yet. Will it replace desktops and laptops in the office? No. Is it powerful enough to run Indesign and Photoshop? I hope so because that’s what I see this device for. Magazine and graphic artists creating, then displaying.

I can’t picture a DJ spinning off of this but I can see a Doctor checking my medical records and looking at my X-rays. Once Apple throws the iTablet/iSlate/iPad up against the wall theirs no telling what usage idea will stick. I just hope my order of five (for my whole family) doesn’t get revoked due to my bad credit, lol. What do you think?
