Short Video Clip: Pat Gelsinger Talks About Intel vs EMC Culture – EMC is More Customer Focused
Pat Gelsinger, ex Intel 30 year vet now the President and COO of EMC, sat down with me and Dave Vellante at SAP Sapphire to talk tech and what EMC is doing at SAP Sapphire.
Here in this clip Mark Rizzn Hopkins and Michael Sean Wright asked Pat to followup on Joe Tucci’s comments about EMC being a maverick culture.
Notes:
He likens the Intel culture to the US Army it is process oriented and very disciplined. Intel is driven by Moores Law. EMC is not process oriented. EMC is much looser environment. However the real difference is the "customers" that they have.
Intel has a few customers while EMC very customer focused and has tons of customers. Of the major IT vendors EMC is maniacal about customers. Everyone in the company makes customers calls.
At EMC World I sat down with EMC CE) Joe Tucci and Michael Capellas CEO of new joint venture of EMC/Cisco called Acadia. Enjoy this vid.
