Super Mario Still Rocks at 25, Going Mobile in His Old Age.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the ever-so-popular Super Mario game. This arcade game features a plumber Mario who finds collectibles, avoids obstacles, while finding his way through to the end of the course. Firstly released for Nintendo, Super Mario Bros. has kept up with new technologies, receiving better graphics and supporting more platforms. This game has truly withstood the test of time, as reported,

Super Mario Bros. was released in Japan on September 13 1985 and went onto sell over 40 million copies. The plumber has gone on to star in numerous critically acclaimed platformers and his Super Mario Bros. series is still the most popular of all time with 240 million units sold globally.

It’s Super Mario’s ability to keep up with changing times that has kept the game so near to our hearts.  The theme has spurred an entire genre of retro-looking games, particularly on mobile devices.  As mobile phones become top gaming devices, we’ve seen the return of several old-school titles.  This will only continue, as new social and sharing capabilities become a part of mobile gaming’s future.

This news not only brings back fond memories of our favorite childhood gam,e but also a chance to win a Wii console bundle. Mario fans in the UK can enter this video competition here.
