Marketo wins first Up-Start Cloud Award for “Fastest Growing Cloud Computing Company”

With over 750 customers in 2 years and average revenue of about $30k per transaction, Marketo (a SaaS-based lead management, sales insight and revenue performance management (RPM) company) has won the coveted inaugural UP 2010 Cloud Award in the “Fastest Growing Cloud Computing Company” category. There were over 230 nominations. Other finalists in this category were FreedomOSS (which counts Palm, New York Life and Lockheed Martin among its customers) and ServiceMesh (which received the Judges Award).

Amy Guarino, VP of Business Development at Marketo, attributed their success to the adoption of cloud as a foundational component (giving them a design and go-to-market competitive edge ahead of the other 25 or so companies in their solution space), integration to Salesforce.com (addressing the specific needs of their sales and marketing customer communities) and a superior customer experience (“fighter pilot on Wii”). Users of Marketo can very quickly monitor, qualify and track sales leads – leading to a more productive experience.

UP-Start 2010™ (15 – 19 November 2010) was developed to promote collaborative analysis of the latest trending issues and challenges in the world of cloud computing and ICT, looking at core process and strategies in the rapidly shifting world of technology. Event partners include Microsoft, PwC, CA Technologies, Verizon, KPMG, Wipro, Fabasoft and Spirent.

Winners were selected from a live audience vote, at the San Francisco Hyatt Regency Airport Hotel at Burlingame, California. The panel of judges, which selected the finalists, include representatives from Verizon, Taneja Group, PwC, Highland Capital Partners, CSC, Microsoft, CA Technologies, Wipro, Blueprint Growth Partners, Ventana Research, GGV Capital and EMC Innovation Network and RSA Laboratories.
