With Thanksgiving almost upon us, Nokia has a lot to be thankful about—they’ve just announced the appointment of Jerri DeVard to as its new Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President. As a marketing mogul herself, DeVard should bring a lot of experience to her role.
“With Jerri at the helm,” says Niklas Savander, head of Nokia’s Markets unit, “we expect the integrated marketing and communications activities to increase the impact of our communications and engagement with consumers and other stakeholders across the industry and across the globe.”
DeVard is a veteran with more than 25 years of marketing experience under her belt and has worked across numerous leading consumer brands, including Verizon, Citigroup, Revlon, Harrah’s Entertainment and the Pillsbury Company. She’s even applied her expertise on the Barak Obama presidential campaign in 2008. More recently, DeVard has founded her own marketing group that provides advice and counsel to major consumer product companies.
Her appointment to Chief Marketing Officer for Nokia will also help spur them on with their US sales, which according to VentureBeat coverage, has been flagging even though Nokia dominates the world market and has huge popularity in Europe. This track record could be seen as the biggest hurdle that DeVard will have to leap during her administration—but with the benefit of her own track record as a practiced marketer she looks to be the light at the end of Nokia’s US sales tunnel.
THANK YOU
