The gaming world is rocking, as businesses and people behind social gaming push efforts to propel their products and services in the market. Publishers Clearing House (PCH) stands firm to ground its status as a global leader in providing the finest opportunities to “Play & Win,” with its latest acquisition of Funtank LLC and its subsidiary, Candystand.com.
Candystand.com is a renowned web social and casual gaming provider. This site hosts an estimated 11 million users monthly. The amount involved in the negotiations was not disclosed to the public.
Following the announcement of the purchase, Josh Glantz, vice president and general manager of PCH Online shared the company’s visions and goals and how Candystand will boost their business scope.
“Candystand and the Funtank team will be key in driving Publishers Clearing House’s social, mobile and web game development capabilities and provide our advertisers with more scale and reach across the online gaming audience. We look forward to combining our unique media offerings as well as promotional and sweepstakes expertise with their creativity to reach new audiences, deliver new experiences and develop new businesses. Integrating Candystand into our offerings will also enhance our ability to deliver a wider range of opportunities for consumers to play and win in addition to our traditional sweepstakes.”
It seems that competition within the already competitive world of gaming has become stiffer overtime. Today, IGN and Gamestop decided to merge and move forward to target video game purchase from discovery. While this is all happening Zynga answers back with rapid expansion in social gaming especially on the mobile front. Zynga is a familiar face that has already dominated the social giant Facebook.
