On March 8, 2011 the Windows Phone Developer Blog posted about some changes that have been made when it comes to the Marketplace policies as well as some regional access info and general tips.
There were a couple of things that caught my eye in the post that I found rather interesting. The first one is regarding the use of a trial option for pay apps in the marketplace.
Paid apps with trial functionality are downloaded 70 times more that paid apps without the functionality.
Trial downloads convert to paid downloads quickly. It seems that more than half of the trial downloads convert to a sale within at least a day, and sometimes within a couple of hours.
The second interesting tidbit is regarding ad supported apps and Microsoft’s Ad SDK:
when it comes to ad funded apps over 95% use the free SDK
monthly ad impressions are growing by double digits with ad impressions increasing by 400 percent since January.
Hopefully as Windows Phone 7 grows its marketshare these numbers will continue to climb, which will bring even more developers and excellent apps to the Marketplace.
