WeeWorld’s Latest iPad App Runs HTML5
The company behind the successful WeeMee brand, WeeWorld, is taking social to the next level (the iPad) with the launch of WeeMee Life, a new app. You can download it off the App Store for $0.99, and will soon be followed by an iPhone and Android version.
This new app is running on HTML 5, an option made possible through WeeWorld’s partnership with Moblying. It takes users to a unique role-playing adventure around the world, engaging users with fun on impressive visuals. Similar to real-life events, players can take jobs such as being a mountain bike tour guide in Hawaii, as well as participate in activities and join competitions, like backwards escalator races in New York City. It might not sound too convincing of a race, but it’s still a race, and it will earn you virtual currencies, social status and premium virtual goods. Using these rewards, you can personalize your character and take the virtual experience as a whole to next level. The blend of iPad’s stellar graphics and WeeMee’s unique feel is the selling point of the game.
This is the latest in WeeWorld’s mobile expansion, which has been feeling its way with varied app releases, some in partnership with others. In order to cater more players, WeeMee Life is pursuing cross-platform expansion as well, that which is capable of syncing with the Facebook version. An iPhone and Android version is also coming. Monetization of WeeMee Life comes from the download charge of $0.99 and other in-app transactions convertible to in-game currencies.
“We believe the future of social gaming will involve an increasingly personalized experience that works seamlessly across devices. WeeMee Life brings these two elements together by offering a cross-platform experience through HTML5, combined with our proven WeeMee personalization,” said Lauren Bigelow, Chief Operating Officer for WeeWorld. “We look forward to learning from our players and continuing to evolve this game and our approach to providing fun, fresh, social WeeMee experiences on multiple platforms.”
The majority of WeeMee’s users are teens and women. A total of 45 million avatars were created on WeeMee from an array of social platforms. The figure has launched the app to being the number 1 portable avatar on the internet today, proving itself a mighty marketing platform and interesting cloud intersection for virtual goods and currencies.
We got a closer look at WeeWorld’s scaling needs a short while back, emphasizing the backend work this company does to support its very real cloud real estate. WeeWorld’s also been noted to use its growing presence for good. It was one of a handful of virtual worlds to raise funds for Japan relief efforts.
