Guess We’ll Be Seeing More webOS at HP Discover 2011

Lately, Hewlett-Packard’s keen eyes are locked on three big products: webOS, managed cloud services and software. This triumvirate completes Leo Apotheker’s strategic plans to hike revenues for the company and maintain solid leadership within the industry. Consequently, many see this move as a hardware-to-software transformation. Apotheker is apparently falling in love with the idea of pushing for webOS licensing aggressively, and we’ll be looking to see how this fits in at the HP Discover event, kicking off tomorrow.  We’ll be there live-broadcasting from the conference, holding interviews with executives and other guests, covering the event from every angle.  Check back regularly at SiliconAngle.com, and see our live-stream at SiliconAngle.tv.

In a recent interview with Wall Street Journal, Apotheker said, “I happen to believe that webOS is a uniquely outstanding operating system. It’s not correct to believe that it should only be on HP devices. There are all kinds of other people who want to make whatever kind of hardware they make and would like to connect them to the Internet. We’ll make [webOS] available to enterprises and to SMBs. It will run on lots of HP devices.”

A global company as colossal as HP visits the newsstand every single day, without a miss. There were highs and lows happening under Apotheker’s watch, too. Indeed, it is an eventful stint for HP’s leader, and he’s been in charge for less than 12 months. Early this year, the ex-SAP chief pushed pretty hard on software as a way to get the soul of HP back. The organization is also taking software to new heights with ubiquitous presence of webOS, according to Maria Deutscher’s earlier notes. On the low side, HP experienced stock troubles following a mediocre second quarter earnings. They also recalled massive Notebook computer batteries due to reports of overheating and ruptures.

HP is set to host an event and take everyone into an Instant-On Enterprise journey on June 6 to 10 in Las Vegas, Nevada, via HP Discover 2011. Enveloped in the occasion’s portfolio are converged infrastructures, enterprise security, information optimization, hybrid delivery and application transformation. With this affair, HP hopes to share its immediate and future steps on transformation of organization’s information technology (IT) to keep up with invariable change and instant demands of the present-day business sphere. The second and international leg of HP Discover will happen on November 29 to December 1 in Vienna, Austria.
