EnterpriseDB Gains InMobi’s Trust: Database Solution for Ad Network

EnterpriseDB, a maker of PostgreSQL solutions, announced that InMobi has selected its EnterpriseDB Postgres Plus Advanced Server database offerings to power its ad network. InMobi is a mobile advertisement startup founded in 2007 that serves about 32 million ad impressions a month, and needed an affordable database backend solution, according to the company. Another emphasis was scalability, considering all the traffic changes one might expect in ad networks, particularly in mobile:

“Founded in 2007, InMobi wanted a database solution that would be highly scalable to handle the exponential growth of ads in the database and at the same time perform efficiently. A key requirement for supporting mobile advertising is a scalable database.”

The combination of scalability and cost efficiency are what drove the startup to select EnterpriseDB’s offering. Reportedly, InMobi implemented the solution using a combination of Java, Python, and Perl as well as technologies including Hadoop and Cassandra. The initial database install took 30 minutes to complete.

Another case study involving a major customer EnterpriseDB made public lately is marketing firm Adquent’s shift from a Sybase (SAP) database to an EnterpriseDB one. The firm, which operates datacenters throughout the U.S, Europe and Asia, reported it expects savings of roughly $100,000 per year.

In addition to gaining new customers, EnterpriseDB is also expanding, thanks to a serious partner strategy. The company joined the OpenShift ecosystem not too long ago, a PaaS offering by Red Hat. EnterpriseDB is a developer of Oracle compatibility offerings, too, and will offer developers more flexibility with moving Oracle applications in OpenShift environments.

“EnterpriseDB is proud to be a part of the Red Hat OpenShift platform, and is pleased to provide open source developers with an enterprise-class, Oracle compatible database built and maintained for the cloud.”
