Simplified Cloud Management with ScaleXtreme’s New Release
, a maker of cloud management software announced two new cloud offerings, ScaleXtreme Xpress and ScaleXtreme Xpert. This debut blends in into the company’s efforts to increase market awareness to its products, and there’s an emphasis on simplicity and ease of use.
“With the general availability of the final product editions, all customers now have access to a cloud-based systems management product that can manage their most complicated and largest deployments with ease. ScaleXtreme can be setup online in minutes with no software to deploy on-site and, through its innovative architecture, manage servers – physical, virtual, local or hosted – within minutes.”
Starting off with Xpress, it’s essentially a free basic version of Xpert that’s designed to allow potentially paying customers to test out ScaleXtreme’s software. Only one cloud provider can be selected, it scales to only one organization and there’s no-role based access, but otherwise users can manage an unlimited number of servers.
Xpert, on the other hand, is the full version priced at $15 per month per server managed. It comes with the limitation above removed and a few other features, including Access Control List (ACL) management and the ability set up server groups to run automated tasks. Xpert supports Amazon EC2, BlueLock, and Rackspace, OpenStack and vCloud-based vendors, which along with the unlimited organizations option will make it an attractive platform for managed service providers.
Last month ScaleXtreme announced it has joined the OpenStack community, following the launch of its web-based systems management service. The offering provides an interface for users to manage their servers from any device, as well as a marketplace for customers to buy, sell and exchange scripts. The marketplace supplements a built-in library the company provides.
ScaleXtreme’s launch of ScaleXtreme Xpress and Xpert is the latest update out of VMworld 2011, an event SiliconANGLE is attending, and will be streaming live coverage throughout the entire conference.
