EMC virtualization subsidiary VMware is scheduled to have its Q3 earnings call today, and analysts are expecting the company to report growth consistent with the past four quarters. Also today the company released a couple of partnership announcements, just a few hours before it’s set to reveal its earnings.
The average profit forecast is 33 cents per share, 37.5 percent more than in the same quarter last year and two cents higher than the 31 cents per share average prediction three months ago. Revenues are expected to increase by 30.1 percent compared to the same period a year ago to $929 million.
“The company has enjoyed double-digit year-over-year percentage revenue growth for the past four quarters. Over that span, the company has averaged growth of 38.3%, with the biggest boost coming in the third quarter of the last fiscal year when revenue rose 45.8% from the year earlier quarter.”
VMware’s growth can be credited to a number of things, and one of the fastest growing factors in that list is the company’s cloud strategy. Today was another milestone, with two new cloud partners added to VMware’s ecosystem.
Business execution solutions provider SuccessFactors, which makes software to help companies assess employee performance, manage HR etc., unveiled an agreement with VMware to provide Cloud Foundry to SuccessFactors customers. Companies can use the virtualization giant’s open-source PaaS to extend the applications.
Desktone also had some news today. The Desktop-as-a-service company teamed-up with VMware to offer a joint DaaS service that pairs VMware View 5 with the Desktone DaaS Platform.
VMware is extending its virtualization business to the cloud, as well to the mobile space. Joe Baguley, VMware’s Chief Cloud Technologist talked about that, and how mobile technologies will eventually turn the desktop obsolete in the workspace, in his opening keynote during day 2 of the NetEvents 2011 EMEA Summit.
