Bonitasoft CEO on the State of BPM

Bonitasoft, a maker of an open-source business process management engine, is taking a unique approach with its offering by providing simplicity, among other things. It has also adopted the solution to the more significant trends in corporate IT today. Co-founder and CEO Miguel Valdés Faura shared his take of the market for BPM software in a video (see below).

Faura believes that the big change going on this industry today is the broadening spectrum of users who leverage BPM solutions: not just executives but also the IT department, project managers and people serving in other roles that aren’t necessarily considered mission-critical. This is one of things his company identified.

Bonitasoft’s chief also provided the usual list of buzzwords in the tech industry as some of the key drivers in his segment, notably the cloud, mobility and collaboration, along with analytics and optimization.  These are split between what he has referred to as the two different phases in process management: production and execution. Collaboration and analytics usually take place in the second part.

He reiterated the growing use of BPM solutions in different scenarios and in the context of supplier trends, and as the tech barrier that stands between organizations and adoption. Suppliers are addressing this by getting involved with emerging technologies and making their offerings more affordable – with his company being one of them.

Faura highlighted Bonitasoft’s emphasis on simplicity, extending to user experience and multi-device support, in addition to the engine’s ability to run in cloud environments. Analytics also comes in the picture, allowing users to gain insight needed for optimization.

Some have already seen the advantages in the company’s approach. Last month Talend launched v5 of its open middleware platform, featuring BPM functionality from Bonitasoft. The business process management technology supplements the existing toolset.
