Former Oracle Executive Kicks Off Genwi’s Asian Invasion

Genwi is expanding its market to India, and there is no better way to start things off than by hiring an able man to spearhead the growth in this Asian powerhouse. A global leader and inventor of mobile publishing in the cloud, Genwi brings in the services of Oracle veteran Ven Singh as its Vice President in the region.

The company is not only looking at India, but would also like to explore growth opportunities in South East Asia. Singh will be the one to convert this blueprint into reality.

CEO & Co-Founder of GENWI, PJ Gurumohan expresses his delight as he welcomes Singh to the company, saying, “we are very excited to have Ved on board. He has the perfect blend of engineering, product, and management experience to help GENWI become an early cloud computing leader in India and to build the infrastructure necessary to meet the demands of the highly mobile audience hungry for content from Indian media companies.”

The appointment of Singh comes shortly after the company signed a partnership deal with Times Internet Limited, a subsidiary of Times of India. This means that the new VP will take charge in leading the deal, and guiding the company towards a beneficial relationship with the country’s oldest and most respected publishing organization.

Singh shares how he sees market movements and what the company can offer to mobile publishing in the cloud:

“GENWI’s CloudPublish solution sits at the nexus of two important trends. While mobile access is exploding in India, online publishers are struggling with how to best deliver their content on mobile devices while capitalizing on new monetization opportunities. With GENWI’s proven platform that delivers live, engaging content to millions of touch screen users, I am confident that we are well positioned to capture significant mind share among Southeast Asian online publishers. I’m looking forward to building the team in India and growing our market presence in this region.”

As the California-based Genwi strives to get ahead of the mobile marketing curve, they are counting on Singh to kick off an Asian invasion. At present, the company is powering over 1500 apps including Conde Naste, Moguldom Media, Times of India, Forbes, Sprout and PBS Kids. Genwi is also responsible for the creation of iSites, a service that helps you build iPhone app in minutes, combining RSS readers, social networking and news filters.
