Productivity Booster! Free Tools for IT [Infographic]
A recent infographic posted on WhatsUpGold is something most of the companies we cover don’t want you to know – you can get some of the stuff for free. This applies to productivity tools for IT professionals among other things, and the graph covers five of the more popular freely downloadable utilities out there.
Number one is IP Tracker, an internal IP discovery solution that’s followed by Visual TraceRoute. This second networking app tracks connectivity problems by inspecting packet routes within the corporate network, all while providing the admin on the other end of the monitor with real-time updates.
The third name on the list is Syslog Server, a variation of the digital personal organizer that filters messages based on user definition either in real time or according to pre-set categories. Another tool is TFPT Server, which offers a secure way of transmitting config files. The final spot is occupied by Port Scanner, a piece of software that detects open ports in need of locking.
Open-source is a trend that stretches far beyond OpenStack and Red Hat, covering practically everything in between. But at the same time IT admins compromise one of the audiences an entire ecosystem of vendors is targeting, including one Danish firm called Panaroma9 addresses directly.
Panaroma is a provider of a cloud platform that brings a whole set of different admin services together under one roof, with the clear goal of simplifying as many areas as possible. Yesterday the company announced that it’s integrating with Zendesk to make its product considerably more attractive.
