This week’s top pick is BeyondPod, a feature-packed RSS feeder and podcast app. The application is names after the latter, which is where most of the development effort has gone into: BeyondPod has a nifty way of saving memory, can make content recommendations and overall makes tuning content into a podcast as convenient as it gets.

BeyondPod is a podcast streaming app that became popular thanks to a myriad of features that add a lot of value to the core concept. There is a  ‘commercial skip’ option that lets you skip content you’re not interested in; it’s also integrated with Google Reader, and automatically suggests points out relevant  videos and content in your feed. The download engine also leaves up to expectations: you can download podcasts one at a time or all at once, and BeyondPod can be configured to automatically delete them once you finished watching.

Tablet Mode Extension

Tablet Mode Extension is a little utility that can allows certain Android apps to make use of your tablet’s large monitor even if they’re not natively optimized to do so. The tool doesn’t feature anything particularly gimmicky, but can come in very handy if you want to use that business card reader or shopping-list organizer on your tablet.

Wunderlist

The idea behind Wunderlist is not so much as providing as interface to organize your notes, but a platform that makes it easier to share those to-do lists and notifications across devices. The cloud-powered iPad client can sync with the iPhone, iPod, Windows, Mac even Linux. There’s even a web-based version and an Android app.

Wunderlist comes with everything you might expect from a to-do list, but does things just a bit better when it comes to making your notes as accessible as possible.

Note Hub

The dev behind Note Hub also decided to put a unique twist on on-the-go productivity. But unlike Wunderlist, the focus here is not on syncing but on the actual notes. Note Hub is touted as a unique solution that can be used to create complete notes rather than snippets:  you can create projects with an unlimited number of memos, as well as pictures, drawings, tasks lists, maps and web pages.

Soulver

Soulver is a calculation app that is far from being just another bare-bone utility. It’s a plain old calculator combined with a note-taking tool that makes it a lot more viable to business users: you can write down financial data such as margins, bids, etc along with all the relevant text, and edit this data more conveniently than with a pen and paper.
