Is your Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) feeling a little under the weather? If so, you might want to give X-IO’s new VDI doctor a call and get yourself fighting fit within 72 hours.
X-IO is claiming it’s able to implement a quick-fix to your VDI troubles as little as 72 hours after diagnosing the problem – a process that it says will take not more than 24 hours at most. According to the vendor, if your VMware or Citrix VDI performance starts to lag, it’ll replace your backend storage with its own ISE arrays to get you up and running again almost immediately.
X-IO’s latest scheme involves a new VDI Emergency Response website, and is offered in conjunction with its reseller and distribution partners. The company is banking on the idea that its trained resellers and local experts can act as ‘doctors’ to diagnose VDI issues and give customers a response within 24 hours. Anyone who’s experiencing poor VDI performance can request a free consultation by registering on the site, and once diagnosis is made X-IO, will prescribe its own arrays to patch things up.
The new website tries to make light of whatever ailment you’re suffering with the following questions:
Are you experiencing any of the following?
Tinnitus following an increasing number of help desk calls
Earache from hosted desktop users complaining about their experience
An inability to perform adequately in the morning and evenings
Severe VDI lethargy whenever changes are made to the desktop
And its response:
“Treatments don’t have to cost you an arm and a leg but can be resolved without resorting to high risk, unproven surgery techniques such as all flash arrays or hybrid storage arrays that use low-cost SATA disk technology.”
X-IO’s humorous take on marketing its new service continues with a somewhat fitting testimonial from healthcare provider AvMed. “Some of our most critical virtual desktops, which also drive the most performance demand, were taking up to two minutes from login to desktop presentation on our existing enterprise SAN. … Now, following the diagnosis and remedy we got from X-IO, those logins take just 10 seconds,” said AvMed infrastructure manager Nelson Remy.
No doubt, X-IO is hoping to drive more product sales and attract new resellers with its idea, but if it can help people out of a tight spot at the same time, that can only be a good thing.
