It has curves! First official picture of the Samsung Galaxy S6

The first official picture of Samsung Co. Ltd.’s upcoming new flagship mobile the Galaxy S6 has been released, and it definitely has curves!

The picture, featured above, comes via T-Mobile CEO John Legere who tweeted a link to a page on the T-Mobile site that states that the “next big thing is almost here.” The site also says to “come back on March 1st to learn more about the latest from Samsung and T-Mobile.”

The picture shows a pinkish colored screen (probably for visuals only) complete with curved side; it doesn’t show both sides of the phone so it’s not clear whether the phone will have one curved edge like the Galaxy Note Edge, or as a later report suggested, it may have two curved edges.

The rear case in the picture also appears to be metal, confirming rumors around the form factor of the device dating back to late 2014.

The other things we know besides the design: there’s a strong chance it will ship with built in support for wireless charging, and it’s a given that it will be powered by a new Samsung designed and built chip. The details on the chip aren’t clear but its previously been said to be Samsung’s Exynos 7420 64-bit Octa-Core CPU; the phone is also said to come with 3 GB of RAM,  32 GB of storage, with 20 megapixel and 5 megapixel cameras back and front respectively.

If you’re a Samsung or even an everyday Android fan, the build up to the Galaxy S6 is exciting. The Galaxy S5 disapointed last year by offering nothing more than an incremental upgrade versus something new and exciting, where as curved screens, wireless charging and a super quick processors bide well for the potential of the S6.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 will be officially launched at the Mobile World Congress March 1st.
