What we now know about Microsoft’s new flagship phones

On the back of all the controversy starring Microsoft’s phone business a leak has been revealed showing us what the next two flagship Lumia phones will look like. Rumors about the phones have been circulating for a while now, but thanks to Windows Central it looks like we have something more concrete than rumors this time.

The phones in question are the Talkman (5.2 inch display) and Cityman (5.7 inch display), although those names won’t be used when the phones hit the street. It’s reported that the Talkman will be the Lumia 950 and the Cityman the Lumia 950 XL (it’s said the Microsoft will bump up from the x40 model).  Both phones will feature Windows Hello, a biometric (iris scanner) authentication sign-in process, while the Cityman will come with an optional Surface Pen and smart cover. According to Windows Central the iris scanning capability will not be available on purchase, but will come as part of an update sometime after the phones have been released.

Something to get Windows Phone enthusiasts excited about are the reviews by those who have reportedly seen the phones. Their comments include: “Massive, removable battery that is the thinnest they have ever seen” and “Sexy as hell”. It’s also said that the phones will be light and compact, something which Lumia phones have not been known for in the past.

Windows Central further reports that the new phones will be made public in Berlin in September at the IFA conference and go on sale a month or two after that. According to reports Verizon will be dropped from the carrier list, while AT&T will sell the 950.
