Images of Microsoft’s new flagship Lumias leaked

Leaks of Microsoft’s new flagship Lumias have been trickling into the web for some time, and it’s expected that the devices, along with the Surface Pro 4 and Band 2 will be launched at an event in October.

The images came courtesy of Evleaks via Twitter, showing the Microsoft Lumia 950 XL (Cityman) as the blue device and the Lumia 950 (Talkman) as the black device. The images themselves are largely unprepossessing, although the sideways shot shows a slight bump at the rear camera lens. We’re already pretty sure about the specs, but perhaps one detail that might sway folks to buy the larger Cityman (5.7-inch WQHD display) is support of a Surface Pen.

Apart from the stylus, there doesn’t seem to be a great deal of difference between the phones. Size is of course a factor, with the smaller Talkman coming in at 5.2-inches – a handy size if you’re a man and you feel like comparing the length of your phallus to the world’s average. ‘XL’, a marketing strategy perhaps? It wouldn’t be so surprising. But back to phones…The smaller Talkman will sport a Quad HD display and Snapdragon 808 processor, which isn’t a huge drop from the Snapdragon 810. Other than that there’s not much between the two devices.

This is an exciting time for the phone market, with the new iPhones on their way and a flurry of decent Android phones hitting the streets. Microsoft will have its work cut out, but it looks like the two devices should hold their weight. It remains to be seen how consumers will choose, but there’s no doubt that now Windows 10 is making hay more people might be persuaded to choose one of the new Lumias. Satya Nadella’s strategy to focus on fewer models of phones might pay off.
