ReactiveOps eases the AWS transition | #VTUG

The Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) lets customers provision a section of the AWS Cloud to launch AWS resources in a virtual network. ReactiveOps, Inc. helps customers make the transition from colocation data center to AWS.

“VPC is the building block in AWS,” said Sarah Zelechoski, lead site reliability engineer for ReactiveOps. “We want people to know that they have the knowledge to move into the cloud.”

Stu Miniman, cohost of theCUBE, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, asked Zelechoski during the VTUG Winter Warmer 2016 how customers think about public cloud these days.

“Some are in on-prem and want to make the full jump to AWS. Some have sensitive data that they want to keep on prem. VPC gives you the ability to have both,” Zelechoski said.

AWS VPC also prioritizes security. Zelechoski said it offers three basic security tools, with more features on the way.

In addition to security, customers also face challenges with immutability. “Customers sometimes treat their cloud account as if it were classic,” she said. “They’re not updating. But they don’t want to have to deal with ‘baby servers,’ and they know that developers need to tweak things.”
