Watch live from IBM’s Chief Data Officer Summit

How is the intelligent use of data changing the business landscape, and where does IBM Corp. fit into this market?

Looking to answer these and other questions, SiliconANGLE is at the IBM Chief Data Officer Summit, taking place in Boston, Massachusetts, with exclusive commentary and interviews from our roving news desk, theCUBE. (* Disclosure below.) IBM will host various data leaders, including chief data officers, chief analytics officers and chief data scientists over the two-day event.

By 2019, 90 percent of large organizations will have a chief data officer, according to Gartner Inc. “IBM’s been targeting the chief data officer for several years, and has done well carving out relationships with senior executives and large customers for close collaboration,” said Dave Vellante, co-founder and chief analyst at Wikibon Research (Wikibon is owned by the same parent company as SiliconANGLE).

In an effort to help data scientists save time and resources, IBM introduced its Integrated Analytics System this month, which is deployable across private, public or hybrid clouds with embedded machine learning via Apache Spark and allows data scientists to work across multiple data stores. “Most enterprises struggle with complexity. That’s the number one problem when it comes to analytics. We are trying to make data really simple to use,” said Rob Thomas, general manager of IBM Analytics at IBM.

At the IBM Chief Data Officer Summit, Vellante expects to hear discussion regarding “digital business and how it’s affecting the way businesses compete in their respective markets; data is the basis of that change.”

To make it easier for data scientists to use deep learning technology on a variety of computing tasks, IBM announced the combination of two sets of software tools earlier this month — the company’s collaborative workspace Data Science Experience and its deep learning platform PowerAI.

At the IBM Chief Data Officer Summit, theCUBE will also explore IBM’s role in data privacy. “IBM is pushing data privacy, claiming more trustworthy and ethical practices that, unlike Google or Amazon, won’t suck up client data and use it to train models that ultimately give competitors an advantage,” Vellante said.

Keynote speakers at IBM Chief Data Officer Summit include IBM executives Inderpal Bhandari, global chief data officer; James Kavanaugh, senior vice president of transformation and operations; Rebecca Shockley, global analytics research leader at IBM Institute of Business Value; Bruce Tyler, partner, global big data analytics leader; and Caitlin Halferty Lepech, client engagement executive, IBM chief data office.

Other keynote speakers include Ursula Cottone, chief data officer at Citizens Financial Group Inc.; Allison Sagraves, chief data officer at M&T Bank Corp.; Katie Meyers, chief data officer at Farmers Insurance Group; Jennifer Gibbs, vice president of enterprise data management for the office of the chief data officer at TD Bank NA; and Assad Shaik, head of enterprise data science, enterprise data and analytics at CUNA Mutual Group
