Business intelligence platform provider Arcadia Data Inc. is bidding to democratize real-time streaming analytics with a new visual analytics tool for the Apache Kafka publish-subscribe messaging system.
Apache Kafka is open-source stream-processing software that aims to provide a unified, high-throughput, low-latency platform for handling real-time data feeds. It’s an extremely valuable tool for enterprises that want to process streaming data in real-time.
Unfortunately, Kafka is also extremely code-heavy, which makes it difficult to use for anyone who isn’t well-versed in the technology. It also takes time to deliver results, which is where Arcadia Data new offering comes in.
The company is touting Arcadia Instant for KSQL, which allows ordinary business users to get Apache Kafka up and running quickly and easily. This means regular employees can begin exploring data that’s being streamed in real-time and create visualizations that help them to understand what the data is telling them.
In order to enable this, Arcadia Data has added KSQL as a data source to Arcadia Instant, which is the free version of its BI platform. KSQL is an open-source streaming Structured Query Language engine that’s used to enable real-time data processing with Kafka.
Priyank Patel, co-founder and chief product officer at Arcadia Data, said the new tool would enable companies to use Kafka to inject insights into more of their business process. “The package announced today makes creating visualizations on streaming data a task simple and accessible for a new class of non-technical user,” he said.
“Data is produced continually, and the ability to act on that data in a timely manner gives business a competitive edge,” added Sid Rabindran, director of the partner ecosystem at Confluent Inc., which develops the KSQL engine.
Arcadia Instant for KSQL is available today as part of the new release of Arcadia Instant, which can be downloaded for free via this link.
