Cloudreach Ltd., a decade-old cloud consulting and managed service provider, is furthering its push into the software market with a new version of its Cloudamize cloud management software platform.
The new version expands dependency assessment capabilities and extends cost optimization and management to multicloud environments.
The software, which Cloudreach picked up with the acquisition of Cloudamize Inc. in 2017, can be used to assess on-premises applications prior to a move to the cloud. In particular, it maps dependencies between applications to ensure that cloud migration doesn’t break critical connections.
“The new software goes beyond assessment and planning into migration assessment and buildout of cloud infrastructure to handle custom-defined needs, plan deployment and understand costs,” said Bethann Cregg, Cloudreach’s head of software.
“We assess over 150 metrics about your environment and put together a picture so that the customer understands how much it will cost you to run” on the major cloud platforms, she added. “Then we give you tools that let you plan a logical plan of how to move servers into the cloud.”
New features include the ability to build, manage and orchestrate a library of application and infrastructure-as-code blueprints as well to run validation and security testing against that code. That procedure is a precursor to automating deployments into Amazon Web Services Inc., Microsoft Corp. or Google LLC cloud environments.
The upgraded platform also provides ongoing application-level cost optimization that enables users to identify the most appropriate cloud platforms as well as to size their workloads appropriately and automate application grouping.
“We’re constantly monitoring what your costs are in the cloud and helping you manage your environment from an application-centric point of view,” Cregg said. “The idea is to give you visibility across your environment regardless of whether your apps are running on prem or in the cloud.”
Cloudreach, which is owned by investment firm Blackstone Tactical Opportunities Fund L.P., employs about 9o0 people around the world. It sells the software both as a service and through partners as well as uses it in its own consulting assignments. Pricing starts at $25,000 per year.
