OpsRamp beefs up alert capabilities with machine learning-based inference

Hybrid cloud infrastructure management company OpsRamp Inc. today is updating its event management platform and intelligent correlation machine learning capabilities.

In addition, the OpsRamp Fall 2019 also provides new multicloud infrastructure monitoring functions for Amazon Web Services Inc.’s and Google LLC’s public cloud platforms.

OpsRamp’s infrastructure monitoring platform enables companies to map out the different components of their information technology environments and keep abreast of how everything is running. OpsRamp can be used to check how well an application meets availability and performance expectations, for example.

It also helps troubleshoot any potential issues that arise. A complementary policy engine lets administrators set up automated workloads to handle maintenance tasks.

At the heart of all of this is OpsQ, which is the company’s intelligent event management and alert correlation system. With today’s release, OpsQ now provides more “proactive and actionable predictive insights” that will help IT teams to deal with alert floods and recover from disaster faster.

The new insights are generated by what OpsRamp calls “inference models” that are able to discover hidden connections between various security alerts and analyze the relation between them. Alert similarity-based pattern recognition, the company said, is especially useful in increasing correlation accuracy when there’s limited topology context available about the environment.

OpsRamp Fall 2019 also delivers new integrations with AWS and Google Cloud that are meant to provide “enhanced multicloud monitoring support.” For example, OpsRamp users can now use the platform to monitor the AWS IoT and AWS Developer Tools services. In addition, the platform now provides real-time discovery for GCP Platform resources.
