Stackery adds CI/CD features to its serverless computing platform

Secure serverless computing company Stackery Inc. is beefing up the security and continuous integration and continuous delivery capabilities of its platform, with an aim to help customers accelerate their application modernization projects at much greater scale.

Serverless computing is a popular execution model in which public cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services Inc. or Microsoft Corp. are responsible for executing a piece of code by dynamically allocating the resources. The main advantage of this model is that it allows developers to focus more on their applications while only being charged for the amount of resources used to run that code.

Stackery has built a serverless platform that enables companies to build, monitor and manage serverless applications over their entire life cycle. It enables users to spin up the infrastructure they need easily using a simple drag-and-drop interface. As a result, users can very quickly build a deployable application architecture from Amazon Web Services or other public cloud services. Essentially, it helps users to spin up the correctly configured resources they need without actually configuring anything themselves.

Perhaps the most important update today is that Stackery can now integrate with code repository services such as GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket, as well as CI/CD tools such as CircleCI and Jenkins. With this, Stackery can tie application pipelines into GitOps workflows, making it easier to facilitate changes to their code, audits and delivery mechanisms, the company said.

Another update pertains to scoped permissions and secrets management. With this, development teams can now leverage and scale various AWS Identity Access Management roles, permissions and secrets.

There are also more integrations with common open-source security tools such as npm audit for Node.Js and safety check for Python. And the new “enhanced provisioning” capabilities enable sandboxed integration testing for applications, the company said.

Finally, Stackery is adding a new Automatic Verification of Stacks feature that enables developer teams to manage code changes, dependencies and processes more easily.

“Serverless is a great way for organizations to rapidly deliver customer value and innovation, without wasting effort on unnecessary, costly, and complex infrastructure,” said Stackery Chief Executive Officer Tim Zonca. “By introducing additional security and CI/CD features, the Stackery platform brings cloud teams the agility of serverless while making enterprise-grade security consistent and automatic.”

Stackery co-founders Nate Taggart and Chase Douglas were interviewed on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE’s mobile event livestreaming studio, in November 2018, discussing the company’s platform and capabilities in much greater depth:
