Meeting notes startup Hugo Corp. today revealed that it has raised $6.1 million in funding to continue to hire more people and accelerate product development.
The seed round was led by Gradient Ventures, Google LLC’s AI-focused investment fund and included Slack Fund, Founder Collective and Entrée Capital.
Founded in 2018, Hugo offers cloud-based meeting notes software that brings calendar, chat and productivity apps into the note-taking experience. The software is designed to allow fast-moving teams to set shared meeting agendas, share collaborative meeting notes and index and organize everything about meetings based on who is in attendance.
The software integrates with more than 20 chat, customer relationship management, videoconferencing and project tools including services from Asana Inc., Jira, Salesforce Inc., Slack Inc., Trello, Zendesk Inc. and Zoom Video Communications Inc.
Hugo counts among its customers Adobe Inc., Dropbox Inc., Netflix Inc., Shopify Inc., Spotify Technology SA and Twitter Inc.
In an interview with UC Today in 2019, co-founder Josh Lowy explained that Hugo is designed to keep everyone in a business environment on the same page with a connected meeting notes solution.
“With Hugo, you can centralize your meeting notes and through integrations, connect that information to other essential people and tools in an organization,” Lowy said. “You can send your notes to Slack for people who couldn’t attend your latest meeting or create Jira tickets for the product team based on new information from customers.”
The company not surprisingly is also providing support for those working or studying remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic. Hugo announced March 18 that it was providing its service for free to teams of up to 40 people for six months. In April, the company also published a framework it calls “Vital” that recommends best practices for holding remote meetings during the pandemic.
“The way we meet dictates the way we work,” Lowy said in a statement. “Everyone already plans for and takes notes in meetings. Hugo supercharges that behavior for better alignment and productivity, especially when we can’t all be in the same room.”
