BigID launches Application Development Framework for building reliable data platforms

Israeli data protection and privacy startup BigID Inc. launched a new Application Development Framework today that it says will serve as a marketplace for organizations looking to create a reliable data platform.

BigID sells a product companies use to protect and monitor the privacy of their customers’ personal data. It uses proprietary machine learning algorithms to deliver what it calls “identity intelligence” that allows users to find, track and “de-risk” identity data stored on customer’s servers. The company claims a unique ability to instantly locate data belonging to specific individuals, a key requirement of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation and other rules.

The company’s Application Development Framework, built atop that data discovery platform, gives customers the ability to build applications based on that data. It also enables access to deep data insights combined with the ability to add new features, the company said in the announcement.

Key features of BigID’s Application Development Framework include support for the Java, Javascript, Node.js and Python programming languages, as well as application programming interfaces for tasks such as data classification, cataloging, correlation, cluster analysis, scan management, reporting, workflow and alerting.

“BigID’s App Framework empowers customers and partners to easily build and add their own applications to the BigID Data Intelligence Platform,” said Eyal Sacharov, chief architect at BigID. “With a full fledged ecosystem, community-built apps can easily and intuitively leverage BigID’s discovery-in-depth capabilities with built-in monitoring on open architecture to address problem spaces in privacy, security and data governance.”

BigID said its App Development Framework is available now for all customers and partners at no additional cost.
