Salesforce and Siemens partner on post-pandemic, touch-free office technology

Salesforce.com Inc. and Siemens AG are teaming up to deliver new, touch-free office products for employees returning to the workplace.

Announced today, the partnership combines Salesforce’s Work.com products with smart infrastructure services delivered by Siemens, including its Comfy and Enlighted “internet of things” applications.

Work.com was launched by Salesforce last month. The website is essentially a resource that provides companies access to a “command center” application that serves as a common interface for tools they can use to manage post-pandemic workplace environments safely.

Some of the new products the companies are working on include mobile boarding passes that enable employees to access office buildings and elevators. There’s also a new occupancy management system for employees to reserve access to desks and conference rooms via the Comfy app.

Meanwhile, the Enlighted app will aggregate the data collected from those products within Comfy, so companies can offer an opt-in contact tracing service to their workers via Work.com.

“The safe return of people to the workplace is a global challenge, and it’s vital that companies protect their employees to build trust and confidence,” said Roland Busch, deputy chief executive officer and a member of the managing board of Siemens. “Together with Salesforce we can swiftly support businesses around the world to implement technology which supports employees as they return to the office, while laying the foundations of long-term digital transformation in workplaces.”

Meanwhile, while Work.com is focused on helping companies to reopen their office locations safely, Salesforce has separately compiled a collection of resources from third parties available via the AppExchange COVID-19 Resources for Businesses page. Those resources are focused on tools such as cloud telephony and digital signature services that can help companies stabilize their business operations before they reopen.
