HPE GreenLake brings the cloud to all your data with Sept. 28 announcement
What’s next for Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co.’s hybrid cloud platform GreenLake as cloud continues to lead enterprise tech spending? HPE’s flagship edge-to-cloud platform saw a market opportunity in activating cloud native approaches for on-premises workload optimization, and a Sept. 28 event brings news of a maturing ecosystem.
An ongoing challenge is the fact that enterprises still struggle to modernize and unify analytics and data platforms without making tradeoffs. Organizations are looking for ways to connect analytics and data science teams to the proper data sets, but how is that experience simplified so companies can use the tools they want?
To address this challenge, HPE’s GreenLake marries the benefits of on-premises infrastructure and cloud computing with a consumption-based model to scale data management from the edge to the cloud. In boosting on-prem with the power of cloud, companies gain flexibility to innovate faster, thanks to gaining control of data and accelerating decision-making processes.
With the pandemic hastening the need for even more storage and data solutions, hybrid cloud is an increasingly attractive option. Critical to HPE’s as-a-service business strategy, GreenLake has seen a 41% rise in total order growth. The company cites “very strong momentum” for GreenLake as it sets out to provide agility and cloud-like experiences, from edge devices to data centers.
HPE will hold a special GreenLake announcement event, hosted by HPE President and Chief Executive Officer Antonio Neri, on Sept. 28 at 11 a.m. EDT/8 a.m. PDT. The news is expected to focus on bringing more cloud services to data, empowering organizations to get the most out of their data through enhanced analytics and data cloud services. TheCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, will cover the event live. (* Disclosure below.)
Progress in the market
In June, HPE GreenLake announced Lighthouse, a cloud platform designed to run edge-to-cloud services and push the boundaries of its hybrid cloud capabilities even further. Lighthouse offers the ability to access and power all of an enterprises’ data, regardless of location, with the added benefit of support for 5G edge devices and artificial intelligence applications. This release is apparently going well for HPE, as it boosts investment in GreenLake after seeing subscriptions on the rise.
Addressing security concerns, Lighthouse recently integrated HPE’s Project Aurora’s zero-trust security architecture to detect potential threats in near real time. Aurora continuously tests and verifies all of an organization’s data, searching for compromised code and measuring operating systems kernel loads.
In growing its hybrid cloud portfolio through a revamped services strategy, HPE saw its total as-a-service business increase 46% in Q3 compared to the same period last year.
