Leveraging technology to increase customer satisfaction and employee productivity is top of the strategic agenda for today’s enterprise. But wanting responsive, intelligent applications and getting them are two different things.
Delays and roadblocks happen even when leadership is pushing to transform as fast as possible. One company that understands the demands of the application modernization process is database-as-a-service provider Couchbase Inc.
“First and foremost, they need a platform that can help bridge the legacy world and the new one so that they can safely evolve applications and modernize workloads that were dependent on relational databases while putting them into new platforms,” said Matt Cain (pictured), president and chief executive officer of Couchbase.
Cain spoke with Dave Vellante, host of theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio, ahead of the Couchbase ConnectONLINE event. The two-day event, scheduled for October 20-21, has the theme ‘Modernize Now!’ and will offer more than 80 sessions for architects, developers, business users and open-source advocates. During the interview, Cain talked about what attendees can expect from the event, why modernization is a mandate for enterprises and how Couchbase is planning for its future as a public company. Couchbase ConnectONLINE is the company’s first major event after holding a successful initial public offering earlier this year. Aside from the IPO, Couchbase is celebrating hitting a over $100 million in revenue, gathering more than 30% of the Fortune 100 as customers, and the announcement of Couchbase Server 7, which bridges relational and modern databases to assist enterprise customers move out from under their legacy burden.
“As a company, we pride ourselves at being maniacally focused at solving unmet, underserved needs in the world of databases,” Cain stated.
Sessions at the ConnectONLINE event will dive into Couchbase’s unique technology and show how the company is focused on supporting not only its customers, but its growing partner ecosystem and developer community.
“We support the SQL query language, we’ve got operational analytics, we’ve embedded full text search, and we have things like eventing. All of these are elegantly architected features that allow developers to build great applications,” Cain stated.
As part of the event, developer teams from Couchbase customers PepsiCo Inc., travel software company Amadeus IT Group, and American Greeting Corp. will talk about how they’ve leveraged Couchbase to solve their application challenges and open up new business opportunities.
