Apple device management startup Mosyle raises $196M, launches new platform
Apple Inc. device management startup Mosyle Corp. revealed today that it has raised $196 million in new funding, and it announced the immediate availability of its Apple Unified Platform.
Insight Partners led the Series B round, with StepStone Group, Elephant and Album VC also participating. Including the new round, the company has raised more than $215 million to date.
Founded in 2012, Mosyle offers device management software designed to streamline device management. The company’s cloud-based software offers monitoring, streamlined licensing management, system reports and alert notification. Mosyle’s software supports the management of iPads, iPhones, Macs and Apple TV devices, allowing technology teams to simplify technology adoption and design workflows.
Mosyle’s new Apple Unified Platform is pitched as the first and only solution designed to integrate five critical applications into a single Apple-only solution. The solution combines mobile device management, endpoint security, internet privacy and security, identity management and application management.
The platform’s MDM for macOS, iOS and tvOS includes support for zero-touch deployment, automated ongoing management, support for shared devices, support for “bring your own devices” and integrations with Google LLC, Microsoft Corp., and Microsoft’s Active Directory.
On the security side, the platform’s endpoint security deploys 24/7 protection regardless of location, ensuring devices leverage the latest security tools, follow leading cybersecurity recommendations and meet industry compliance mandates. The solution provides native antivirus and malware detection and continuously scans, isolates, locks and wipes infected devices.
The Apple Unified Platform offers encrypted DNS functionality that automates web filtering and encryption on Apple endpoints. The company claims that by focusing on the device instead of the network, customers get fast, secure and reliable web privacy and security at work or on the go.
Identity management on the platform combines single sign-on features with two-factor authentication to enforce security standardization across every Mac while simplifying how employees use work credentials to authenticate Macs. Support is provided for Okta Inc., Ping Identity Corp., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and other services.
Finally, application management on the platform allows organizations to remotely deploy, update and manage any compatible app on Apple devices regardless of whether the app is available on the Apple App Store.
“Over the past year, we’ve aggressively rolled out innovative security and management features that used MDM as a medium to extend protection to other layers of the device,” Alcyr Araujo, founder and chief executive officer of Mosyle, said in a statement. “Our new Apple Unified Platform is the direct result of this effort and delivers on our vision of combining cloud-native architecture, automation, usability and best-in-class customer support for a radically new, fully integrated approach to Apple device management and security.”
The company has seen triple-digit revenue growth since 2020, off an undisclosed base, and has more than 32,000 organizations using its services.
