LogicMonitor launches unified observability platform for multicloud and container environments

Information technology observability firm LogicMonitor Inc. said today it’s expanding its capabilities with the launch of a new, unified and software-as-a-service-based platform called LM Envision.

Announced at LM Elevate, the company’s annual user conference, LM Envision is said to be LogicMonitor’s most comprehensive observability platform yet. Companies can assess the health of thousands of IT assets and applications hosted across multicloud and on-premises environments, in software containers, networks and more.

During a keynote, LogicMonitor Chief Executive Christina Kosmowski said the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated digital transformation across thousands of enterprises, resulting in a dramatic increase in IT complexity. She said teams today are flooded with millions of operational data points from thousands of IT assets. Although this data can be extremely valuable to help companies assess the health of their IT infrastructure and applications, she said, they need a highly scalable platform to be able to process it.

LogicMonitor is a veteran in the observability market, selling tools that companies use to monitor the health of their applications and the infrastructure they run on. Observability involves collecting data such as application logs and other metrics that might indicate if there are any problems that need attention. This information is then presented via easy-to-consume dashboards.

LM Envision extends these tools with expanded coverage for Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud environments, plus Kubernetes container services, the company said. It also claims more than 2,000 integrations with third-party tools and services to help teams spot trends and anomalies from a single platform.

In addition to standard application performance monitoring, the platform supports a new Logs Advanced Search query language that allows customers to use it as a log aggregation and management tool, surfacing additional logs to help with troubleshooting. Other new capabilities include Terraform integration to quickly add newly provisioned infrastructure, StackStorm integration to help automate remediation, and a new Push Metrics application programming interface that makes it possible to bring data from almost any system into LogicMonitor.

Kosmowski said she believes that IT today is all about giving businesses the confidence to act, innovate and operate as required to succeed in a digital world.

“CIOs are struggling with lack of clarity due to the chaos that is rampant in their IT data supply chains, and the increasing imperative they deliver the resiliency and continuity demanded for today’s digital business,” she said. “LogicMonitor’s mission to enable CIOs and their organizations to monitor their entire enterprise has never been more critical, with the observability and innovation CIOs need to deliver a resilient enterprise, help boost productivity, and drive better collaboration, innovation, and impact with the business.”

LogicMonitor said LM Envision is generally available today for both new and existing customers.
