Kyligence rolls out unified metrics platform for analytics

Kyligence Inc., the developer of an analytics platform based upon the Apache Kylin open-source distributed data warehouse, today announced a platform that organizations can use to store business metrics in order to align them better with analytics reports.

Kyligence Zen is described as an “intelligent metrics store platform” that automates pipelines from data lakes or data warehouses to multidimensional online analytical processing or OLAP databases to make metrics more consistent.

The platform is intended to address what Joanna He, senior director of product growth at Kyligence, called a common misalignment between management objectives and metrics such as key performance indicators. “This exists because of technical and organizational issues, such as different business units reporting different metrics,” she said. “There may be thousands of reports but no unified definition of what is being reported on.”

Kyligence’s platform provides a single metrics catalog where companies can consolidate metrics in one place with standard definitions. “Organizations can look at what metrics they have, who owns the metrics and how the metrics are being used,” He said. “It’s a place to communicate and understand what’s going on with business.”

Users can group multiple metrics under individual business goals and connect to popular business intelligence dashboards to measure performance against goals.

Kyligence Zen is built on top of the company’s OLAP platform and leverages machine learning to identify datasets and metrics automatically. It decouples metrics definitions from BI reports and visualizations. The company said data analysts can thus define metrics once in the metrics store and consistently reuse them across BI, automation tools, business workflows and advanced analytics.

The product is currently in an early access phase with registration available here.
