GoTo buys Miradore to expand its mobile device management expertise

The flexible-work software provider GoTo Technologies Inc. said today it has acquired Finland-based startup Miradore Ltd. to strengthen its capabilities in the cloud-based device management market.

GoTo, which was formerly known as LogMeIn until it rebranded earlier this year, sells a range of cloud-based remote working tools that focus on collaboration and information technology management. Its offerings, which include GoTo Connect, GoTo Resolve, Rescue and Central, are primarily aimed at small and midsized businesses.

The company said that by adding Miradore’s mobile device management capabilities to its portfolio, it will become a one-stop shop for all of its customer’s IT needs.

Miradore has built a cloud-hosted mobile device management platform that’s aimed at SMBs. IT teams can manage end users across Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS and Android devices, supporting both “bring your own device” and hybrid work models that have become the norm in many industries.

GoTo said the plan is to integrate Miradore’s capabilities into its GoTo Resolve IT Support and Management tools. That integration should take a while, but by early next year GoTo promises it will be able to provide full management and support for any kind of employee device.

That support will include enhanced security for both company issued and BYOD devices, with the ability to lock down any computer or phone if necessary to limit the risk of data exposure. At the same time, GoTo said, the integration will enable simpler workflows, with all device management operations moved into a simple, unified management tool that combines communications, remote support, desktop management and remote monitoring and management.

Most importantly, GoTo said, the acquisition will help it to deliver on its vision of providing IT teams with the tools required to support any kind of device, in any location.

GoTo Chief Executive Mike Kohlsdorf said Miradore’s SMB-focused device management tools are a natural fit for GoTo. In addition, he contends, the acquisition will also expand his company’s business reach.

“Not only does it provide a leading platform for mobile and MacOS device management, Miradore also brings a talented team of employees, more than 2,700 customers and MSP distributors and over 89,000 user accounts across 180 countries,” Kohlsdorf said. “All of this will further bolster GoTo’s internal talent and market potential within the fast-growing MDM market, which is expected to surpass $28 billion by 2027.”
