Kyndryl Holdings Inc., the services company that spun out of IBM Corp. nearly a year ago, has launched a business consulting practice to complement its mostly technology-focused service lines.
Kyndryl Consult is aimed at aligning technology projects around business outcomes, the company said. Services cover IT strategy and operations, cloud migration, application and mainframe modernization, artificial intelligence data and analytics, network and edge computing and security and resiliency.
The spinoff from IBM has enabled Kyndryl to “pivot from our roots,” said Mark Slaga, global practice leader of Kyndryl Consult. “We used to be a services division inside a product company, meaning we were oriented around a fundamentally different cultural mindset from what we are now. Kyndryl Consult is the latest proof of our expanded capabilities.”
The new practice builds on top of the existing Kyndryl Vital co-creation service and Kyndryl Bridge, which is a collection of curated cloud services aimed at improving customers’ insights into their business and complex problems.
“The most impact comes when we partner with customers via Kyndryl Vital to co-create solutions that are customized to the unique problems and needs within their organizations, use Kyndryl Bridge as a means to access and implement those solutions and leverage Kyndryl Consult as a means to enable continuous improvement and innovation for the customer, rather than the traditional model of one-off consulting projects,” Slaga said.
He didn’t specify how large the practice will be but said that with 90,000 employees and 75 of the Forbes 100 companies as customers, Kyndryl has the “unique ability to execute and achieve the results customers are looking for — and we can do it faster than others because of our scale.”
