Data security firm Netwrix Corp. has acquired privileged access management startup Remediant Inc. for an undisclosed price to enrich its PAM offering.
Founded in 2015, Remediant offers PAM software designed to assist enterprises in protecting their accounts from misuse and abuse. The software provides real-time monitoring, zero-trust security protection of privileged accounts and just-in-time administration across information technology and security ecosystems.
The company’s flagship SecureOne software offers agentless real-time visibility into standing 24×7 administrative access and one-click removal of unnecessary, always-on, always available privileged accounts. Zero Standing Privilege technology in SecureOne requires users to use multifactor authentication for just-in-time resource access and eliminates blind spots in legacy PAM solutions by preventing administrative access sprawl outside the vault.
Remediant’s software also offers continuous stolen credential protection, protecting against ransomware, malware and other external attacks that leverage stolen or misused credentials. The service provides enriched contextual information about compromised privileged accounts to allow security teams to prioritize incident response and remediation.
Along with the acquisition allowing Netwirx to enrich its PAM offering, Remediant’s technology will also be used by Netwrix to enhance its technical capability in the Identity and Protect functions of the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cybersecurity Framework.
Existing Remediant customers will also be offered additional security services through Netwrix’s existing product portfolio, allowing them to reduce risk and make more informed decisions about their security.
“We are excited to strengthen our offering in privileged access management to empower organizations with even better resistance to advanced threat,” Steve Dickson, chief executive officer of Netwrix, said in a statement Tuesday. “Netwrix now is the go-to company for protection from cyberattacks that leverage privileged access and lateral movement techniques.”
Coming into its acquisition, Remediant had raised $15 million in 2019 and a further round for an undisclosed amount in 2020. Investors in the company include Dell Technologies Capital and Forgepoint Capital.
Netwrix has been on a buying spree over the last few years, acquiring companies including New Net Technologies LLC, Imanami Corp. and MATESO GmbH.
