Digital transformation in an ‘as-a-service’ environment: How to not fall behind
In the past few years, the need for agility, security, sustainability and right-sized solutions has driven companies to change the way they think about data.
As this mindset shifts, solutions and innovations in digital transformation are no longer a bonus; they are an essential part of the modern business strategy.
“We’re absolutely going through a transformation, and I think we’re shifting to an edge-to-cloud platform company,” said Alexia Clements (pictured), vice president for worldwide sales and go-to-market leader for HPE GreenLake at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. “And with that, it’s how we approach our customers differently, and our partners.”
Clements spoke with theCUBE industry analyst Dave Vellante at the HPE Discover 2022 event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed transformational journeys and the need for aligned communication. (* Disclosure below.)
Focusing on outcomes, the role of IT and the drive for transformation
With the race to cloud-based and cloud-native platforms, customization and expertise combine with laser-focus on solutions for the most complicated business challenges. Through HPE GreenLake, enterprises have a choice in where to focus their efforts, according to Clements.
“It’s about helping customers on that digital transformation journey and understanding what businesses outcomes they are trying to drive and how we can help them get there,” she said.
Often, the teamwork needed to get an organization from concept to practice in their digital journey depends on communication and agreement between business lines and IT. And, almost as frequently, these groups don’t speak the same business language.
“There’s got to be tight alignment between the lines of business and IT, and sometimes those two don’t know how to talk to each other,” Clements said.
In this post-COVID environment, where volatility is the challenge and agility is the solution, business decision-makers should be looking forward to how their enterprise will need to function in the future. And that means transformation.
“If you’re not transforming, you’re falling behind. Everybody needs to be looking to the future and really trying to get aggressive. We’re seeing companies that aren’t moving fast are falling behind,” Clements said.
