Capella Space launches new partner program to address need for geospatial products

Information services startup Capella Space Corp. today announced the launch of its Analytics Partner Program to meet what it says is increasing global demand for geospatial products and solutions that leverage the power of synthetic-aperture radar.

The program is designed to help organizations that often lack the tools to analyze and interpret SAR data at large scale. Said to be the first of its kind for commercial SAR data, the new program will fill this gap by empowering partners to develop artificial intelligence-powered geospatial solutions for a wide range of industry verticals.

SAR technology captures Earth imagery day or night through all weather conditions, helping organizations make mission-critical decisions where reliable, consistent information is essential.  With the program, Capella says, it will bring the same caliber of products and services trusted today by its government and national security customers to a wide range of commercial markets, including manufacturing, energy, insurance and finance.

“At the heart of our Analytics Partner Program are trust and transparency,” Payam Banazadeh, founder and chief executive officer of Capella Space, said in a statement.  “Long-term access to timely, accurate, all-weather information is game-changing for so many industries and presents a growing market opportunity for our partners.”

Capella Space has provided early program access to a handful of companies currently serving commercial markets with useful solutions powered by SAR data. In one example, Woolpert Inc., an architecture, engineering, geospatial and strategic consulting firm, uses data across markets to serve public, private and government clients worldwide.

In another example, Kayrros SAS, a global environmental intelligence and asset observation technology company, extracts data from satellite imagery and applies AI and geo-analytics to deliver intelligence and insight to businesses, markets, policymakers and researchers.

“At Kayrros, we are passionate about building state-of-the-art geospatial data products that our customers rely on to reduce their greenhouse gas footprint; protect people, assets and natural ecosystems; and manage the energy transition and associated transition risks,” said CEO Antoine Rostand.

Capella Space was last in the news in January when it raised $60 million in new funding from the U.S. Innovative Technology Fund. Other investors in the company include NightDragon Acquisition Corp., DCVC Management Co. LLC, Cota Capital L.P., Alumni Ventures Group LLC and Artiman Ventures Inc.
